The Royal High School Club in London’s 2023 Annual Dinner was held in the Function Room of the Davy’s at St James wine bar in Crown Passage, Pall Mall on Friday the 3rd of March. The attendees included a party from the school who had flown down from Edinburgh in the morning: Rector Pauline Walker, Depute Rector Jen Menzies, the School Captain Iain Dunlop and School Vice-Captains Hannah Gotch-Curry and Youssef Abdrabou.
Club President Richard Steedman brought us to order with his trusty gavel and we sat down to enjoy the classic cooking for which Davy’s is renowned: smoked haddock and chive fishcakes, char grilled rump steaks and the cinnamon and pear crumble proved popular alongside other tasty options.
After dinner Iain Dunlop told us about school life from his perspective and we also heard positive comments from Hannah Gotch-Curry and Youssef Abdrabou. Pauline Walker gave an upbeat speech about the work of the school and referenced a recent glowing inspection report by Education Scotland. After the speeches a rousing rendition of Vivas Schola Regia brought this very enjoyable evening to a close.
